Character Jobs

Players will be able to recruit new randomly generated party members at recruitment offices in various towns. These characters all come with random names and jobs. These page lists jobs that characters can be.

Archer: A ranged attacker that uses bows. Archers have high attack power and excellent critical hit rates, but their hit rate is very unreliable. Additionally, archers are capable of dealing double damage against bird enemies.

Berserker: The berserker is controlled by the AI and has no special abilities. Instead, they just attack relentlessly! Their hit rate is quite high and they deal moderate damage. Berserkers can always be depended upon to inflict good physical damage, but their inability to be controlled by the player, or do anything other than attack, can make them a liability at times.

Black Mage: A wizard who casts black magic such as fire, blizzard, or thunder. As black mages level up, they become more potent and learn more spells. They are masters of dealing elemental damage and possess lots of MP. However, if a black mages runs out of MP and it cannot be restored, they are relatively useless.

Blue Mage: A special caster who learns specific abilities when an enemy uses them on the blue mage. They are average fighters in their own right, a necessity for them since their learned list of spells may not always be particularly long or of much use.

Dancer: A moderately frail character who is able to buff party members and confuse/misdirect enemies. Dancers are not powerful on their own, but are great for supporting stronger characters.

Dark Knight: A powerful warrior clad in dark armor. Dark knights have high hit points and exceptional defense. They are able to inflict shadow damage while also sustaining their own HP and MP. Dark knights are excellent tanks.

Dragoon: An exceptionally strong lancer job. Dragoons deal fantastic damage with their armor-piercing lances and spears. They are also able to jump into the air, allowing them to avoid being targeted by enemies for a time.

Duelist: A swordsman who can learn extremely potent abilities that alter enemy conditions and statuses. Otherwise fairly similar to knights, but slower and not as selfless.

Engineer: An intelligent inventor capable of attacking the enemies with a wide variety of machines and tools. Additionally, engineers come equipped with firearms as weapons. Their firearms have exceptionally high hit rates, but seldom inflict critical damage.

Gambler: A fighter that specializes in chance, luck, and taking advantage of the player's gil, steps, battle count, and so forth to inflict damage.

Kindred: A character who is capable of summoning Espers such as Atomos, Ifrit, or Vertumnus to assist the party. Summons come with huge MP costs, but are extraordinarily powerful and effective.

Knight: A balanced fighter with good defense. Knights are able to bolster their own defenses as well as protecting allies who are low on HP. Knights are one of the most reliable classes to have in your party.

Monk: A two-handed martial artist who attacks with Chi abilities and can attack twice with their bare hands. Monks are also innately resistant to most status conditions, making them difficult for enemies to disable or hinder.

Ninja: An extremely fast but frail fighter who can throw items from the player's inventory. Ninjas are also able to assassinate enemies if their HP is low.

Onion Knight: A generic fighter class. There is nothing extraordinary about an onion knight, and they are typically expected to serve as placeholders for more effective characters.

Paladin: Paladins are, for the most part, similar to knights albeit with slightly lower attack power. They are also average healers and can learn low to medium tier white magic spells. Paladins are also able to vanquish undead enemies quickly with specialized exorcism abilities.

Pirate: A relentless fighter who attacks with two knives. Pirates are innately immune to water damage and the blind status condition, making them useful combatants under various circumstances.

Red Mage: A wizard class capable of casting low to medium tier black and white magic spells. While not as effective as a black or white mage when it comes to casting either type of magic, the simple fact that a red mage can cast any type of magic makes them very versatile.

Thief: A fairly weak fighter who is able to deter enemies from attacking them. They are also able to steal gil and items from enemies.

Time Mage: A mage who specializes in alteration spells such as demi, haste, slow, or stop. They have near-limitless MP, but they generally have fewer spells than any other wizard class.

White Mage: Weak mages who are highly vulnerable to physical attacks, but possess exceptional magic defense. White mages also learn a vast range of white magic spells that can be used to heal, remove status conditions, and inflict holy elemental damage on enemies.
